.DISCUSSION...



Light winds today with highs in the 60s and lower 70s. Minimum RH

values remain around 28% or higher. Warmer conditions and breezy

southerly winds prevail for the rest of the weekend. Although RH

values drop to around 25-35% for Sunday and Monday, recent green

up of fuels keeps fire danger low of most of the area. Clear skies

prevail through the first part of the week.



Low (< 30%) chances for light rain move in for mid week, mainly

along the MO River Valley and into northwestern IA. Precipitation

amounts remain meager and most stay dry through the end of next

week. Otherwise, continued warmer than average conditions with

occasional breezy periods.

The Grassland Fire Danger Index will reach the low category

this afternoon. Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture

content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the

ground, indicate that the probability of a fast moving fire is

low. Outdoor burning under these conditions can usually be

with reasonable safety precautions, but should be monitored.



OUTLOOK FOR SUNDAY AFTERNOON...The Grassland Fire Danger Index

will reach the low category.



The grassland fire danger product reflects fire danger for native

grasses. It is not intended for cured agricultural crops, nor

will it reflect conditions in road ditches which have been mowed.
