Maps are created by the Missouri Basin River Forecast Center and are updated daily around 9:30am, 11:30am, and 1:30 pm

These data are preliminary and have not undergone final quality control by the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI). Therefore, these data are subject to revision. Final and certified climate data can be accessed at the NCEI -

Additional Data Sources:

  • Up to 4 years of archived daily data for our climatology reporting stations (Sioux Falls, Sioux City, Huron, Mitchell) can be found by selecting Preliminary Climatology Data (CF6) under the Observed Weather tab on our climate page.
  • Past data for select Cooperative Observation stations can be found on the NOWData tab of the climate page.
  •  are a combination of cooperative observer data,  network reports, and Doppler Radar precipitation estimates.
  • 24-hour National Snowfall Maps are created from cooperative observer and network reports.
  •  snow depth, snow water equivalent, and snowpack temperatures maps are provided by the National Operational Hydrologic Remote Sensing Center (NOHRSC).
