Public Information Statement 博体育 Northern Indiana 1129 AM EDT Fri May 2 2025 /1029 AM CDT Fri May 2 2025/ ...Upcoming Equipment Outage Notification... The 博体育 WFO Northern Indiana located in Syracuse, IN will be conducting a required, scheduled update to their Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) from Tuesday, May 6th at 8am EDT through approximately Thursday, May 8th at 4pm EDT. The 博体育 uses the AWIPS computer system to display and integrate weather and water information and to send life-saving information, such as weather and water warnings, to the public. During the time of the update, forecast operations will be conducted by our service back-up office in Indianapolis, IN to minimize any potential interruption to services. No impacts to our core services of forecast products and weather watches, warnings and advisories are expected during this period. However, limited impacts will occur to the following services: NOAA Weather Transmitters: All NOAA Weather Radio transmitters maintained by 博体育 Northern Indiana will be off air through the time of the install. This includes the transmitters located at the following locations: South Bend, Fort Wayne, Angola, LaPorte, and North Webster. Local graphical forecast maps that are hosted in numerous places on www.weather.gov/iwx will not be updated. This includes all maps on the Graphical Hazardous Weather Outlook page (/erh/ghwo?wfo=iwx). The Northern Indiana forecast office will remain open and staffed throughout this period for public and partner phone calls and additional functions that can be completed without AWIPS.
