Prolonged Periods of Unsettled Weather into Early Next Week

Showers and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall, with a few thunderstorms being severe, are expected over portions of the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic States through Monday. Across the Rockies and Intermountain West, a storm system will bring showers, thunderstorms and high elevation snow.

Very warm and dry conditions are expected ahead of an approaching cold front on Sunday across NE Montana. Critical fire weather conditions are expected as south winds range from 15 to 25 mph, gusting to 30 mph along with relative humidity as low as 10%. An isolated thunderstorm is also possible during the evening before winds switch to the north and humidity recovers at night. A Red Flag Warning is in effect from Noon through 8PM Sunday for Fire Weather Zones 120 and 122.
A cold front will approach Sunday evening with increasing north winds Sunday night into Monday. Winds will first ramp up on the west end of Fort Peck Lake Sunday evening, and spread eastward Sunday night through Monday. Look for North winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph. Wave heights between 2 and 4 ft are expected. A Lake Wind Advisory is in effect for Fort Peck Lake from midnight through 9PM Monday.
Many areas in northeastern Montana are expected to reach 80 degrees this weekend! This will be the first time since last October, or about 200 days. We hope you can get out and enjoy it, but remember to wear sunscreen (and a lifejacket if you鈥檒l be on the water)!
