Breezy to windy conditions are expected across the region through the first part of this week. Winds will be strongest today and Tuesday, particularly during the afternoon/early evening, with gusts in excess of 40 mph expected across portions of Imperial County. Wind Advisories are in effect for portions of Imperial County through early Wednesday.
Elevated to critical fire weather conditions are expected today and Tuesday, primarily during the afternoon/evening hours, due to strong winds and dry conditions. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for the higher terrain east of Phoenix this afternoon and evening and again late morning Tuesday through Tuesday evening.
A dry weather system will enter the Southwest US over the next couple days, causing breezy to windy conditions across the region. This system will also act to cool afternoon highs from near 100掳F across some of the typically warmer lower desert communities on Monday into the 80s for most places by midweek. As the core of the system departs, temperatures will warm such that they return to near seasonal levels by Friday.
With unseasonably hot temperatures in the forecast, take proper precautions when out in the heat such as drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks inside to cool off.
